Organic sales isn't dead. Manual sales is.

Organic sales isn't dead. Manual sales is.

Organic sales is not dead. Manual sales is.

People confuse the two constantly, and the confusion costs money.

When someone says cold outreach no longer works, what they mean is: my people manage thirty contacts a day, and two of them reply.

That is true. It was never the channel. It was capacity.

A salesperson can truly know fifty customers. From the hundredth on, they become the administrator of a list they no longer read themselves.

That is exactly where everything is shifting right now.

Not because a machine sells better. Because it takes over the part nobody liked doing anyway: preparation, research, follow-up, documentation.

What remains is the conversation. And in the conversation, a good salesperson was always unbeatable.

What I tell sales organizations today:

  • Calculate how many minutes of pure preparation one closed deal costs. The number shocks every managing director.
  • Do not automate the conversation. Automate everything before and after it.
  • Measure contact quality, not contact volume. Volume was only ever a substitute for missing knowledge about the customer.
  • If you are still hiring to create reach, you are buying a 2015 problem.

Organic sales is coming back. It is just coming back without the grunt work.

What eats the most time in your sales team — and who has ever measured it?
